Bath House is coarse salt, and that is the whole product. Magnesium sulphate and Dead Sea salt in a ratio that dissolves quickly without turning the water slippery, with no fragrance, no colour, and no essential oils. It is the soak we recommend to people who react to scented bath products but still want the ritual.

The stone jar holds 400 g, which is four full baths at the recommended 100 g dose. The lid is unglazed inside so it does not seal tight — that is deliberate, since a sealed jar in a humid bathroom will cake.

Why this piece exists

Bath House is the product we argued about least and sold the most slowly, and then suddenly never kept in stock. It is two salts in a jar. The whole craft is in the ratio: magnesium sulphate dissolves fast and does the heavy work, Dead Sea salt dissolves slowly and keeps the water from feeling flat. Get it wrong in one direction and the bath is slippery; wrong in the other and it is pointless.

The unglazed lid is not a finishing choice — it is functional. A glazed lid seals a humid bathroom jar and the salt cakes into a lump you have to chisel. Unglazed clay breathes, the salt stays free-running, and after a few months the lid takes on the faint mineral dusting that tells you the jar has been used properly.

Who it suits

  • People who react to scented bath products
  • Anyone who wants the bath ritual without the gift-shop packaging
  • Hard-water households — the salts soften the water noticeably

Who it does not suit

  • Anyone with a magnesium-restricted diet — check with a clinician first
  • Fans of coloured, foaming, perfumed baths; this is none of those things

Use and care

Everything we know about keeping it.

Use

Add 100 g to a full bath at body temperature and wait until the crystals have dissolved before getting in. Twenty minutes is enough; longer does not add anything. Rinse the bath afterwards to avoid a salt ring.

Not for

Broken skin, recent piercings, or anyone advised to limit magnesium intake. If you are unsure, ask a clinician — this is a bath product, not a treatment.

Storage

Keep the lid on and the jar out of the shower spray. If the salt does cake, break it up with the back of a spoon; the product is unaffected. Do not store in a sealed plastic container while damp.

Long-term

The jar is the product you keep; the salt is the product you finish. Refill pouches cost less than the jar and pour cleanly into the mouth without a funnel. If you live somewhere humid, keep a spoon in the jar rather than reaching in with damp hands — wet fingers start a chain reaction that cakes the top layer. The salt itself never spoils; a caked jar is an inconvenience, not a loss.

Material safety. Platinum-cured silicone, phthalate-free, non-porous. Clean with warm water and mild unscented soap or a silicone-safe cleanser; avoid alcohol and silicone-based lubricants, which dull a matte finish and can leave a film. Full detail in the materials guide.

About this piece

Will it stain my bath?
No — both salts dissolve clear. Rinse the bath after draining to avoid a faint mineral ring, which wipes off with anything abrasive-free.
Can I use it as a foot soak?
Yes, at 30 g to a basin of warm water for fifteen minutes. The dose card has the ratio; the salt does not care which part of you is in the water.
