The Care Kit is the honest version of an accessory upsell: two lint-free cloths (one for rinse-drying, one for polish) and a 50 ml Linen Wash in a flat tin that lives in the same drawer as everything else. It exists because the single most common reason a matte silicone piece looks old is that it is being dried on a bath towel and stored slightly damp.

The cloths are the difference: one absorbs, one buffs, and neither sheds lint into a matte finish the way a towel does. The tin is the second difference — a kit that is already in the drawer gets used, and a kit in the cupboard does not. That is the whole product thesis.

Why this piece exists

The Care Kit is the accessory that admits the category has a chore. Matte silicone needs rinsing, drying and lint-free buffing to stay looking new, and the people who do that chore use bath towels because no one ships the right cloth. The tin exists so the chore has a home in the drawer rather than a prayer in the cupboard — a kit already in the drawer gets used.

The two cloths are different on purpose: the absorption cloth is for the wet stage, the buffing cloth for the finish, and using one for both is how lint gets ground into a matte surface. They survive a hundred washes each if you skip fabric softener, which coats microfibre and quietly kills it — the card says so because we learned it the expensive way.

Who it suits

  • Owners of matte silicone who want it to stay looking new
  • The drawer-tidy minded — everything for maintenance in one flat tin
  • Gift-set builders: it is the practical line in any basket

Who it does not suit

  • Dry buffing of glazed ceramic — damp cloth for that, dry microfibre micro-scratches
  • People who already decanted cleanser into a travel bottle; the 50 ml is a duplicate

Use and care

Everything we know about keeping it.

Use

Rinse-dry with cloth one, buff with cloth two, back in the tin. Wash the cloths monthly without fabric softener — softener coats microfibre and kills it.

Not for

Ceramic and glass buffing — use them damp for that; dry microfibre on glaze can leave micro-scratches you will not see until light rakes across it.

Storage

The tin is the storage. Keep the cleanser upright inside it; the travel cap is good, not perfect.

Long-term

The tin outlives three cleansers and four cloths, which is the point of steel. The cloths retire when they stop absorbing (softener damage) or shed (edge fraying) — wash cool, no softener, air dry, and the hundred cycles are real. The 50 ml cleanser has a travel cap rather than a pump; it is the one bottle in the range where we accepted a worse cap for a better shape in the tin.

Material safety. Platinum-cured silicone, phthalate-free, non-porous. Clean with warm water and mild unscented soap or a silicone-safe cleanser; avoid alcohol and silicone-based lubricants, which dull a matte finish and can leave a film. Full detail in the materials guide.

About this piece

Can I buy just the cloths?
Yes, by enquiry — the cloths are our cost plus postage. The tin is the product; the parts are the service.
Is the 50 ml cleanser the same formula?
Identical, with a travel cap. The 200 ml pump bottle is the home size; the travel cap exists because a pump in a tin is a pump asking to be pressed by the lid.
