The Ledger is a notebook. It exists because the questions people ask us — what worked, what did not, what to try next — belong somewhere that is not an app, and because a black notebook with an unmarked cover looks like every other black notebook on a desk.
Ninety-six pages of uncoated paper that takes fountain pen ink without feathering, a ribbon marker, and a brass pencil included rather than a pen we would have to source. The cover is bound board, not leather; it takes wear honestly.
Why this piece exists
The Ledger exists because the questions people email us — what worked, what reacted, what to try next — belong on paper, not in an app that will reorganise itself in two years. It is a plain black notebook. Unmarked cover, ribbon marker, ninety-six pages of uncoated paper that takes fountain pen ink, and a brass pencil because we could not source a pen we wanted to be responsible for.
We debated whether a notebook belongs in this catalogue at all, and the deciding argument was the covers of everything else on the category shelf: every competitor's 'wellness journal' has the word wellness embossed on it. Ours has nothing. It looks like every other black notebook on a desk, which is the only discretion that matters in a paper product.

Use and care

Use
Nothing special — that is the point. The paper handles most inks; avoid gel pens with heavy ink loads if you write on both sides.
Care
Keep it dry; the board cover will warp if it sits under a damp towel. The elastic-free binding means it stays shut on its own.
Gift
It pairs with Winter Rose or a Quiet Case when a gift needs a third, quieter thing.
Long-term
The board cover takes wear honestly: soft corners, a faint sheen where hands rest, and after a year it looks like a notebook rather than a product, which is the intended trajectory. Keep it out of standing water; the cover recovers from damp but the sections will wave. When you finish it, the spine accepts a label better than a sticker — write the date range on the flyleaf and keep it, because in three years the first one is the more interesting document.
Material safety. Platinum-cured silicone, phthalate-free, non-porous. Clean with warm water and mild unscented soap or a silicone-safe cleanser; avoid alcohol and silicone-based lubricants, which dull a matte finish and can leave a film. Full detail in the materials guide.
