Every range needs its middle, and Meridian is ours done properly: 34 mm, a fifteen-degree forward angle that earns its keep, and the same weighted base trick as Velvet Hour so it stands on a shelf. It is the piece we recommend when someone says Velvet Hour felt too broad and Aurelia felt too slight.

The angle is fixed rather than adjustable because adjustable necks are where devices fail — the joint is always the weak point and always the first place water finds. A solid body with a machined angle has no joint to fail, and the weight distribution makes the angle feel intentional in the hand rather than accidental on the bed.

Why this piece exists

Meridian is named for the angle: fifteen degrees forward, which is the average of the angles our five favourite pieces in other people's ranges wandered between. Fixed angles are unfashionable — adjustable necks photograph better — but an adjustable neck is a joint, and a joint is where water, batteries and warranties go to die. We machined the angle into a solid core and let the marketing department grieve.

The weighted base is the same philosophy as Velvet Hour's, one size down. It stands. It does not roll. And the 232 grams are distributed so the angle feels deliberate in the hand — the piece tips toward where it is going, which is a small thing the hand reads as confidence.

Who it suits

  • The exact middle: too broad was Velvet Hour, too slim was Aurelia
  • People who want an angle without an adjustable joint's risks
  • Shelf-storage households — it stands, like its sibling

Who it does not suit

  • Anyone who wants to change the angle — it is machined, not hinged
  • Very slim-preference users; 34 mm is a medium by our scale

Use and care

Everything we know about keeping it.

Before the first use

Standard first-week ritual: full charge, wash, and three solo sessions before deciding — the angle reads differently lying down than it does in the hand.

Cleaning

Rinse and cleanser as usual. The base seam is the only join; dry it before charging.

Storage

The weighted base stands it upright. Do not store leaning against the wall on its tip — the silicone takes a set over months.

Long-term

There is no joint to fail, so Meridian's aging is the standard trio: battery first (five hundred cycles), matte surface second (rinse beats wipe), sleeve third (wash it). One discipline specific to the angle: do not store it standing on its tip against a wall, because a silicone tip takes a set under its own weight over months and the fifteen degrees will learn a lean you did not choose.

Material safety. Platinum-cured silicone, phthalate-free, non-porous. Clean with warm water and mild unscented soap or a silicone-safe cleanser; avoid alcohol and silicone-based lubricants, which dull a matte finish and can leave a film. Full detail in the materials guide.

About this piece

Why a fixed angle instead of adjustable?
Because adjustable means a joint, and joints are where devices fail and water finds the inside. Fifteen degrees is the average of what people actually use, machined solid. The trade is flexibility for longevity and we chose longevity twice.
Is 34 mm too much for a second piece?
It is the middle of our scale: 4 mm broader than Aurelia, 4 mm narrower than Velvet Hour. If either of those suited you, Meridian is the other direction, not a leap.
