Recover Balm is the product our own packing team asked for, which is the only endorsement we trust. It is a dense beeswax-and-oil balm with a circulation blend that warms the way a hand warms — by being worked in — rather than the capsaicin burn that most muscle balms use and that this catalogue's customers did not ask for.

It comes in a matte black tin, 60 ml, and a fingertip does a shoulder. The scent is the beeswax, faintly, and it fades inside the hour. Like everything in the bath chapter it is unscented by policy: this goes on skin that other products have been on, and the sequence should not turn into chemistry.

Why this piece exists

Recover Balm's warming comes from ginger and rosemary extracts at a dose that makes the skin think about warmth rather than endure it. The capsaicin balms work by irritating you into warmth, which is a legitimate mechanic and completely wrong for a catalogue whose whole chapter is about not irritating anyone. Ours builds over ten minutes and reads as a hand that stayed.

It was requested by our packing team, who lift boxes all day, and the first jar was a labelled tub from the studio kitchen. The formula is now manufactured properly but the brief never changed: dense enough to stay where you put it, warming enough to matter, unscented enough to use in the evening sequence, and gone from the tin's smell inside the hour.

Who it suits

  • Shoulders and backs after lifting days — desk or warehouse
  • Evening sequences that already contain bath products
  • People burned by capsaicin balms before

Who it does not suit

  • Eyes and broken skin — the warmth is real
  • Immediately-before-hot-shower use, and anyone sensitive to ginger or rosemary

Use and care

Everything we know about keeping it.

Use

A fingertip to a shoulder, worked in for a minute. Wash hands after — the warmth is real and eyes will find out.

Not for

Broken skin, or immediately before a hot shower, and not for anyone sensitive to ginger or rosemary extracts.

Storage

The tin is the travel version of itself: it survives a bag, it does not survive a car glovebox in summer. Below 30 °C or it turns to oil and back — which it survives too, but the surface never looks the same.

Long-term

The balm's failure mode is heat: above 30 °C it turns to oil, and below it turns back to balm — but the surface never looks the same, and the texture gets grainy. It is still good; stir it. A car glovebox in July is where tins go to learn this. The tin itself is steel and outlives the balm; refills are a pouch so the tin can keep its job.

Material safety. Platinum-cured silicone, phthalate-free, non-porous. Clean with warm water and mild unscented soap or a silicone-safe cleanser; avoid alcohol and silicone-based lubricants, which dull a matte finish and can leave a film. Full detail in the materials guide.

About this piece

Will it work on cramps?
It warms and that helps some cramps, but it is a circulation balm, not a medical one — the label says what it does and nothing more. Cramps that repeat are a clinician conversation.
Why no capsaicin?
Because it irritates by design, and this catalogue's chapter three is built on not irritating anyone. The ginger-rosemary blend is weaker and kinder and it is enough.
