Sonnet is the piece that came out of a sketch Aurelia rejected: the same slim body, but with an S instead of a C. The first angle reaches forward, the second reaches back, and the rose-gold band at the midpoint marks the motor — so the piece reads differently depending on which way round it arrives.
It joined the catalogue in October and is listed here for the season before folding into Personal devices. The finish is the same bead-blasted matte as Aurelia; the band is machined from the same stock; the only new decision is the second curve, and it took six prototypes to make the two angles agree with each other.
Why this piece exists
Sonnet is the sketch Aurelia rejected: the same slim body with an S instead of a C. The first angle reaches forward, the second reaches back, and the piece reads differently depending on which way round it arrives — which is a sentence that made the mould expensive and the product interesting. Six prototypes went into making the two angles agree; an S that fights itself is just a wobble.
The rose-gold band sits at the midpoint because that is where the two curves change their minds, and the band marks the motor the same way Aurelia's marks hers. It joined the catalogue this October and will fold into Personal devices after the season — the New arrivals chapter is a waiting room with better lighting.
